Couture, Conversations & Community: Celebrating the Power of Women Who Open Doors on Purpose

There is something powerful that happens when women gather, not for recognition, but on purpose.

This week, I had the privilege of participating in an intimate evening hosted by PlayersTV’s The PlayHer Experience, led by the incredible Michele Ghee, in partnership with the talented Lisa Leslie and Veronica Beard, benefiting The BOSS Network initiative. The evening brought together leaders, entrepreneurs, athletes, creatives, and changemakers who all share one thing in common: a commitment to creating opportunities for the next generation of women.

Our evening began with Shop for a Cause at the beautiful Veronica Beard boutique on Chicago’s iconic Michigan Avenue. Surrounded by timeless fashion and inspiring women, it became evident that this event wasn’t simply about couture; it was about community.

Conversations On Purpose

Every conversation, every connection, and every purchase contributed to a greater purpose: investing in young women through The BOSS Network. From there, some gathered for an intimate dinner where meaningful conversations took center stage. It was a celebration of leadership, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and the power of women creating opportunities for one another.

For me, this evening was especially special because it represented relationships that have helped shape my own journey.

Community in Purpose

For two years, Michele Ghee was part of The Motivated Mom Tour, generously sharing her wisdom, leadership, and encouragement with mothers across the country. Her passion for creating spaces where women can thrive continues to inspire me, and The PlayHer Experience is another example of her commitment to elevating women’s voices.

Dorinda Walker is not only one of my best friends, but she also funded the launch of The Motivated Mom platform from the start! She is a Strategist for Player’s TV, Co-Founder of Expectant Media, and an award-winning Marketer. It is always a joy to see her face and spend quality time with her.

It was equally meaningful to reconnect with The BOSS Network. Through our partnership on Mom Boss, we worked together to encourage mom entrepreneurs while balancing family and purpose. Those experiences reaffirmed something I’ve always believed: when women choose collaboration over competition, everyone wins.

One of the evening’s greatest highlights was celebrating Cameka Smith, founder of The BOSS Network. Her vision has created opportunities for countless women entrepreneurs to build businesses, expand their networks, and walk confidently in their purpose. It was truly an honor to celebrate her impact and legacy.

As I looked around the room, I realized the evening’s theme wasn’t just couture.

  • It was conversation.
  • It was community.
  • It was women intentionally using their influence to create opportunities for others.

Whether through PlayersTV’s, The PlayHer Experience, Veronica Beard’s generosity, The BOSS Network’s BOSS on Campus initiative, or the work we continue through The Motivated Mom, we are all part of a larger movement, one that believes success is measured not only by what we achieve but by who we empower along the way.

I left Chicago reminded that beautiful clothes may make a statement, but beautiful people make an impact.

Here’s to more couture, more conversations, and stronger communities, because when purpose is stitched into everything we do, everyone rises.

With Love & Light!
