A trip to Disneyland or Disneyworld can be incredibly expensive if you aren’t careful. It can be very easy to spend $100 on food each day for a single person and hotel rates…let’s not even get started on that. But the good news is that there are ways to save on trips to the happiest place on Earth. These are tips that don’t break any rules and are very low effort so they’re great for everyone. Here are a few ways you can save on a trip to Disneyland.

Skip the Park Hopper

One of the best ways to save money on a trip to a Disney Resort is to only get tickets to one of the parks. Sure, while you’re planning the ability to hop back and forth from one park to the other sounds great, but the reality is that most of what you will want to do is in the main park. In fact, you may end up not going to Adventure park at all because there’s so much ground to cover.

Skip Souvenirs

One of the biggest ways to save money is to skip souvenirs completely! Many of the items you find in Disney gift shops can also be found online or in the Disney Store. So, if you are planning on getting Souvenirs do your research before you go and make sure you can’t find them anywhere else. If you’re looking for mementos to remember your trip, you can give each of your kids cheap one-time-use cameras every day and encourage them to take photos. If a camera gets lost, it’s ok! You’re giving them a new one every day, so the loss won’t be too big.

Skip Soda and Bottled Water

One way to massively reduce how much money you’re spending inside the park is to skip buying soda or bottled water. Bring your own bottles to put water in and ask various vendors for a cup of ice water. They’ll happily provide that for you free of charge. The markup on soda and bottled water is massive inside the parks and you can easily find yourself drinking away more than $30 a day per person!

Shop Around for Your Hotel

When it comes time to book your hotel for your Disney trip it’s important to take some time and shop around. Consider the differences between staying in hotels in the resort versus staying in one nearby. You may find that the perks of staying in the resort aren’t worth the extra cost. Once you’ve picked a few hotel options start looking around for the best price. While it’s ideal to stay at a Disney resort, they may not have the best price so check other sites like Booking.com.

Buy Your Disney Extras Before You Go

While you’re in the Disney parks you can be tempted to buy some of those little extras you didn’t think of before you went on the trip. These are things like glow sticks, handheld fans, Disney shirts, and hats. Buying them before you go, even if you want to be Disney themed and do it in your local Disney Store you’ll still massively save!

You see, you can afford a trip to Disneyland!  I absolutely LOVE Disneyland. I grew up in California and we went often.  It was my favorite place to go with my grandmother.  She would always have us take a picture at the entrance of the park.  I do it with my son now.  I hope these tips help you with saving on your first or next trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!
